A Hall of Auspicious Art祥瑞之艺苑

Rui Yi Xuan began as a small studio dedicated to the quiet genres of Chinese painting: flowers that mark the seasons, insects and animals observed closely, birds caught mid-call on a branch. Every work is painted by hand on xuan paper, in the gongbi and xieyi traditions passed down through generations of court and literati painters. 瑞艺轩，意为「祥瑞之艺苑」，起初是一间专注于花鸟草虫等传统题材的小画院——应时而开的花卉、细致观察的草虫走兽、枝头鸣叫的飞鸟。每一幅作品皆以宣纸手绘而成，承继历代宫廷与文人画家传下的工笔与写意传统。

Toh Sew Tong, now 86 years old, lost his father when he was just three, and was raised by his mother. Despite his early passion for art, financial hardship kept him from receiving formal training in that field. In his fifties, he briefly studied painting at Braddell Heights Community Centre, earning praise from his teacher. But he had to quit to support his family and continued to paint during his spare time.

Specialising in fine brushwork and watercolour, he enjoys depicting birds, flowers, and fruits. He holds himself to high standards, always aiming for precision and beauty. His passion for art inspired him to explore its unique forms and colours. He believes his paintings have a peaceful effect that helps calm people down. Through his art pieces, he hopes to encourage others to discover the joy and peace painting can bring.

卓瑞通1939年出生于新加坡万礼乡村，三岁丧父，由母亲独自抚养长大。他自幼热爱绘画，奈何家境贫困无缘拜师。直到年过五十，才在布莱德嶺联络所短暂学习，尽管老师赞赏他的才华，他仍因生活所需而辍学。老师的一句"半途而废"反倒激励了他继续作画，绘画也成了他最爱的心灵寄托。

他擅长工笔画与水彩，描绘鸟类、花卉、水果等题材，对作品要求极高。他觉得自己的画富有禅意可以安抚观者的情绪。他希望通过画展激励更多人走进艺术世界在绘画中解压愉悦丰盈生活。

Once a painting is finished, it is mounted with a silk-brocade border in the studio's traditional style and marked with the Rui Yi Xuan seal — the same red seal you'll find on every painting in our gallery. 画作完成后，依传统工艺以绫绢边框手工装裱，并钤盖瑞艺轩印章——这枚红色印记，见于画廊中每一幅作品。
